(Fayetteville, NC September 1, 2010) With the 2010 Dirt Wars on the horizon, the City Chevrolet League Championship Series is still in full swing. City Chevrolet is celebrating its 75th anniversary and the competition for the $20,000 LCS Championship is as competitive as ever as the season draws to an end. Series officials have been working to properly balance the LCS with the Dirt Wars Championship races and have made the following alterations to the schedule.
With the 2010 Dirt Wars being held on September 10th, 17th, and 25th, NDRA officials have elected to end the City Chevrolet League Championship Series (LCS) on September 18th, 2010. With Dirt Wars events being held on these dates (9/10, 9/17, & 9/25), teams will not be able to accrue weekly points for the LCS. Even though the LCS cutoff date has been changed, teams will still be evaluated on their best 14 performances. “The LCS was structured to reward commitment and consistency”, stated Lee. “The teams that made their commitment to the LCS have already competed in 14 or more races. With that in mind, we didn’t feel that the small change in concluding the LCS warranted a change in the structure.” Originally scheduled to conclude on September 25, 2010, the LCS is a $20,000 payout over 20 positions. Each week leading up to the September 18th finale, the LCS point standings will continue to be updated weekly and posted on the website.
The NDRA would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every team, track, sponsor, fan, and supporter for their continued loyalty to the series. While 2010 has presented its own set of challenges, the series continues to show signs of growth and we look forward to the exciting conclusion of the LCS and the 2010 Dirt Wars championship races.

(Fayetteville, NC August 31, 2010) While the ongoing battle in the City Chevrolet League Championship Series continues to wage on, the anticipation surrounding the 2010 Dirt Wars is beginning to build within the series and its teams. Series officials have been diligently working on these championships and are now pleased to make the following announcements.
The 2010 Dirt Wars will be composed of three events at three different tracks carefully selected by the NDRA. Event #1 has been scheduled for September 10, 2010 and will be held at Cleveland County Speedway in Lawndale, NC. Event #2 will take the series to Gastonia’s Carolina Speedway on September 17, 2010. The championship finale will be held on September 25, 2010 at I-77 Speedway in Chester, SC. In order to be eligible to participate in these events competitors must be an active member of the NDRA and competitors must have accrued 12 NDRA points on or before September 6th, 2010. Points are accrued by participating in NDRA weekly (1 point per event) or NDRA Road Show (2 points per event) races. A complete list of drivers eligible for the 2010 Dirt Wars will be posted on the NDRA website by September 8, 2010. Prior to the season, the qualification for these races was set at 14 NDRA points. However, with these championship races being scheduled earlier than originally anticipated series officials have opted to lower the qualification expectation from 14 to 12. Only the racers meeting these requirements will be allowed to participate in these events and pursue the championship prize pool. Each team will start Dirt Wars on equal ground and all points will be reset prior to the first event. This three race playoff will determine the 2010 NDRA Dirt Wars Champion and the 15 position payout.
NDRA officials will also implement tire testing for the three Dirt Wars events. “Tire prep and treatment is a topic that we have researched for quite some time”, stated Lee. “Goodyear has given our teams a quality and durable tire to race on. We feel that it is imperative to preserve both a level playing field for our teams as well as Goodyear’s investment in our series.” Therefore we will be testing tires at each of these championship races. Additional information regarding these races, their payouts, and the championship purse payout will be released accordingly.
